Without fail every time I make a post there is something I forget. Last update it was the entire month of July! I shouldn't be this forgetful at my age, right? ;)
When I wrote the post yesterday, I didn't include what we did THAT day. My dad and step-mom came to visit for the afternoon loaded with presents and yummy snacks. We enjoyed being able to relax with them for the afternoon and play with all the presents. The girls and I had a modeling show with all of our new clothes and I'm not even joking when I say how much fun Trevor is having with his new spiralizer.
I think I remembered everything now, but if I didn't please let me know! :)

October, November & December
This is indeed becoming a quarterly update! I'll tighten up in 2014!
In September, Trevor took a great opportunity to connect with other chiropractors from all over the U.S. in no other place, but Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. What happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico. Enough said. Just kidding. He had a great time and came back energized. He's even slotted to be a speaker there next year.
Trevor and I couldn't have been prouder of Corinne and Ayla after our parent teacher conferences in November. Ayla's teacher placed her next to a girl who doesn't have a lot of friends and whom other kids are unkind to. She did this because of how kind and compassionate Ayla is. Ayla has since befriended the girl and Trevor and I couldn't be prouder of Ayla for her non-judgemental, kind nature. Corinne goes above and beyond on all her school work, and although her teacher's wish she'd raise her hand more, they said she always knows the answer when they ask. Her music teacher shared a song with us that Corinne composed. I'm waiting for her to send me a link to share with all of you.
Ayla spent a weekend at Grammy Robin's house when Grammy had friends with a daughter Ayla's age staying with them. Ayla and Lauren were immediately best friends and had an absolute ball! They went to a hockey game, giggled late into the night, shot bows and arrows and couldn't stop using the rainbow loom. As most of you know, Ayla asked everyone she knows for a rainbow loom for Christmas after this visit and ended up with three of them!
Sophie had a great time swimming at a friend's birthday party. She continues to love school and never stops writing and asking us how to spell things. She loved that she was able to read her name on all the Christmas presents this year!
Corinne had a school assignment to interview a veteran and write a report. She interviewed her Grandpa Dave and her writing is detailed and vivid. Here's a link for you to read it: Corinne's Veteran Report.
In October, Trevor and I had an awesome time at my sister, Ashley's wedding. It was fun to have a night without the kids and celebrate with friends and family. She was a beautiful bride!
We spent a great Thanksgiving at my mom's with her whole side of the family. The only sad part was my grandparents weren't able to make it. It's always nice to get together with everyone and eat yummy food! We got to do it again a few weeks later at our family Christmas party, where Santa visited. He was perfect and even came with gifts for all of the kids! A big thanks to Aunt Karen and Uncle Al who made it happen!
As per the theme, Christmas was all about visiting with family. Ashley and Justin stayed with us the weekend before Christmas. It was great to lay around all weekend relaxing and visiting with them. Christmas afternoon, my aunt, uncle, and cousins from Gardiner came over, along with my mom and step dad. We had a great time with everyone and were happy to host the impromptu party!!
Lincoln is as perfect as ever! He's sitting up, clapping, and "talking"! He's very excited to have lots of new interactive toys to play with and is currently fascinated by the mirror. Instead of daycare, Lincoln started going to a friend of mine's house who is a a stay-at-home mom. She has a four year old daughter and eighteen month old son. They love having Lincoln with them and he's loving being in a home environment. Sophie goes with him on Tuesdays and Thursdays when she doesn't have school. She loves playing with Nola, the four year old, and being with her brother.
Tomorrow we're headed to Sugarloaf to visit and exchange presents with my brother and his family. We plan to explore outdoors at his cabin on the river and ice skate, too. I love this time of year because it's filled with lots of family and the start of a brand new year!
Happy New Year!

JULY
I can't believe I forgot July! Thank you, Ashley, for pointing it out.
It was a big month for everyone. Grandma Connie came to Maine for a few days and then flew with the girls to California. They stayed with their Aunt Camille, Uncle Chris, and cousins Kensley and Addison. They spent a few days in Disney Land and also celebrated Kensley's birthday.
Sophie absolutely loved all of the princesses. Ayla's favorite part was the rides. Corinne's response to being asked what her favorite part of vacation was, "I really enjoyed seeing all the family we don't get to see often." She warms my heart! :)
Connie left California with the girls and they stayed with her for a few days in St. Francis, Kansas. Trevor and I had a few days in Wichita with Lincoln, before the girls joined us, visiting Gay and the rest of the Bevans and Igou clans. It was so nice to relax and just enjoy being with everyone. We all shared several meals and evenings together. We went to the rodeo in Manhattan and drove through one of the craziest thunderstorms I've ever seen!
The six of us flew back together, exhausted, but so appreciative of all the family time.

July, August & September
I guess this is now a quarterly blog, instead of a monthly one!! I really thought I had only missed one month, but alas, here I am, ready to update you with all the goings on of the Bevans' lives!!
We ended the summer with a busy August. Corinne went to soccer camp for a week. Trevor and I were away for a few days completing a Tough Mudder. The girls and Lincoln had a fabulous time with Grammy Robin and GG (Great Grammy Henderson). They went to see Mary Poppins at Bowdoin College, made cookies, and enjoyed some pool time. Trevor and I had a great time at the race and were very appreciative of the Grammy's watching all four kiddos for us.
Lincoln had his first camping trip on Labor Day weekend. We spent the long weekend in New Hampshire with the Pelletiers, swimming, hiking and enjoying time just relaxing by the fire.
School has been a whirlwind so far. I started in a new grade at a new school and am working on managing my time between that, four kiddos and Trevor. I absolutely love it there and the awesome staff.
Lincoln is doing really well at daycare. He's started to eat solids and likes cauliflower, sweet potatoes, and carrots. His laugh and smile are constant and infectious. He couldn't be a happier baby!
Sophie is LOVING school! She goes three mornings a week and is learning her letters and how to write her name. She told me other night, (right after Ayla did) that she has "homework and a project due from my teacher." She is a little sponge and so wants to the big girl that her sisters are.
Ayla has started gymnastics and Girl Scouts again. She enjoys both and is off to a really good start in fourth grade. She is learning sign language from her teacher, who has nothing but positive things to say about her.
Corinne loves junior high, although says the schedule and changing classes can be confusing. She is getting the hang of it and really enjoys foreign language, band, chorus and of course Language Arts, where her teacher couldn't be more impressed with her writing ability. She is playing soccer this season and is enjoying the co-ed 6th-8th grade team she is on.
Trevor completed the first ever Bone Frog Challenge, which is a nine mile, 36 obstacle course designed by Navy SEALs. The kids and I hiked all over the mountain to cheer him on at different obstacles and even managed the chair lift! He placed 23rd out of 282 finishers. Go Daddy!
Trevor and the rest of his team from his office spent a long weekend in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico at a conference connecting with other chiropractors from around the world. The kids and I partied hard while he was gone with chocolate chip pancakes, the library, pizza in the living room watching a movie and making chocolate covered rice krispie squares.
Jamie Richards, a chiropractor friend of Trevor's, came from London, Ontario to speak at a chiropractic monthly meeting. He spent the night with us and I had the pleasure of attending the meeting to listen to him. He was captivating and charismatic. He left Trevor and I both wishing he could have stayed longer.
Whew! I think that's it in a nutshell! Until the next quarterly report, I wish you love, light and happiness!

April, May & June Update
Oops! Has it seriously been that long?!? This is what they were talking about when they said I wouldn't get anything done once the baby was born! ;) I'm looking back through my calendar and remembering why I started doing
this blog monthly: if more than a month goes by, I can't remember what
happened! I'll do my best to recap.
April flew by, with nothing too exciting, except the joy of watching Lincoln get bigger and bigger. We had a very low-key April vacation with Trevor home and Gay finishing up her stay here with us.
Ayla and Sophie really enjoyed gymnastics this spring. They both mastered their "blue ribbon skills", which is a skill they chose and had to be successful at by the end of the 10 week session. Ayla started with a cartwheel and was able to do it fairly quickly, so she switched to mastering a round off. Sophie worked on walking on the balance beam without me holding her hand. They both earned their blue ribbons! Ayla also had a gymnastics show at the end of the session, where she performed on the balance beam, horse, bars and trampoline. She did very well!
Corinne decided not to continue with martial arts and has kept busy, reading, writing and drawing. She recently competed in the Battle of the Books, which is a team competition, where students are asked questions about the books on the Maine Student Book Award nomination list. She read almost all of the books from the list and her team won!
Sophie, Lincoln and I had a great time every Thursday at the library for story time and Fridays for music time. During story time, several stories with the same theme were read to a group of three and four year olds and afterward all of the kids did some type of craft that went along with what was read. For music time, we sang songs, many of which had movements go along with them. The kids also had the opportunity to play the drums every week, shake rattles and dance with scarves. Sophie had a blast and if you can believe it, Lincoln usually slept through the chaos.
I enjoyed a baby massage class with Lincoln for four sessions. Sophie joined me on the last with her own baby, since Grandma Gay was gone. Lincoln seemed to love it and I've continued to give him massages at home.
I started Mother's Day this year again by running the Sea Dog Mother's Day 5k. We spent the rest of the day celebrating with the Cote's.
Corinne did an awesome job in the spring band concert. Her school band played with the junior high and high school bands. It was great to see how the music program develops. All of the bands sounded great, but the high school band is really amazing. Corinne was very excited to know the bands she'd be joining were so good.
Ayla had a spring chorus concert, which was a lot of fun to listen to and watch. Fourth grade is the first year students are able to join chorus and she really liked it.
Ayla's Girl Scout troop spent the night in Boston at the Museum of Science. They had a ton of fun exploring the museum and camping out in the math room. Her troop leader said she couldn't have been more impressed with how mature and responsible all the girls were. Ayla has absolutely loved Girl Scouts this year and can't wait for it to start again in the fall.
My teaching position in Phippsburg was eliminated due to low enrollment. The good news is that I will be teaching fifth grade at Woolwich Central School, which is in the same district. I'm super excited to have an awesome teaching partner, since I've only ever taught in a school with one class per grade. I've been into the new school a few times already and I'm eagerly anticipating school starting in the fall!
Ayla spent a week at a day farm camp and absolutely loved it! She picked strawberries, collected chicken eggs, weeded, fed pigs, not to mention started and ended each day with yoga. The weather was sunny and fairly cool all week, which was nice because they were outside the entire time. She said her new favorite animal is a pig.
Sophie went to "camp" two mornings one week at Little Sprouts Daycare. This is the daycare her, Lincoln and Ayla will be attending in the fall. They have a certified preschool teacher come in three mornings a week for three hours. She also runs a camp for a few weeks in the summer. Sophie and I have visited a few times to help her get familiar before starting full time in the fall. Camp was her first time being there for an extended period of time by herself. She had a ton of fun and was chattier than ever each day when I picked her up. They made bubble wands, tie-died t-shirts, and many other crafts.
I spent a day in Freeport at a conference on leadership. Trevor was sweet enough to take the morning off and stay with the kids for the day so I could go. When I asked him how the day went (since it was his first full day with the four kids by himself) and he had one word, "BUSY!" =)
In July, the girls are beyond excited to go to California with Grandma Connie to visit their aunt Camille and go to Disney Land. They'll spend some time in Kansas with Connie, then meet Trevor, Lincoln and I in Wichita to spend some time with Grandma Gay.
In August, I'll be away for a three day weekend in Block Island, Rhode Island for my sister's bachelorette party. Trevor and I are also doing the Tough Mudder in Vermont in August and Corinne is spending a week at soccer camp. Summer will be over before we know it!

March Update
We had a baby!!! Lincoln Cedric Bevans was born at 8:39 on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. We couldn't feel any more blessed to have him part of our family! My water broke Tuesday around midnight and after debating with my midwife about staying home until the morning so I could get the girls off to school, we did what she wanted and arrived at the hospital around 2 AM.
The nurses told us to get some sleep since I hadn't started having contractions yet. Around 5:30 I woke up with pretty intense contractions. The nurse came in around 6:00 and knew I was definitely in labor. The midwife was called in since she hadn't arrived yet. (Even though she told me I couldn't stay home until morning, she was able to!)
When the midwife arrived, she told me I was 10 cm dilated and could see Lincoln's head. After only two hours of labor, one of which was pushing, Lincoln was born. It was an absolutely amazing experience that left Trevor and I both elated and exhausted.
Grandma Gay's flight was just in time to meet Lincoln the day he was born! She has been a tremendous help to us since her arrival. The girls are no longer in daycare so they are getting on and off the bus at home. They love the casual mornings of sleeping in and having extra time to hang out before going to school. Sophie is my big helper since she's home with me all day. She packs the diaper bag for me, helps me change and dress Lincoln and gives him lots of lovies!
In April, Sophie and Ayla are looking forward to starting gymnastics. Corinne is continuing to love martial arts and will be testing for the next level soon. Because Lincoln was born the week of parent teacher conferences, we were unable to meet with Ayla and Corinne's teachers. However, we communicated via email and they are both doing fantastic! We couldn't have been more pleased with both teachers reports!
Trevor has a week of vacation when the girls are on their April vacation as well. That is our last week with Grandma Gay, so we are looking forward to a fun-packed week with all of us home!!

February Update
Right on time this month! =)
February flew by just like all the other months and here I am again trying to remember what we did! We celebrated Trevor's birthday with flourless chocolate tortes and a tattoo. He's been wanting one forever and finally bit the bullet with a great tattoo artist.
Corinne decided not to go to the Father/Daughter this dance this year, so Ayla got Trevor all to herself and loved it! They tore up the dance floor the whole time and ended the evening with gelato. Ayla looked beautiful, of course and Corinne, Sophie and I were comfortable at home reading in our pjs!
We started February school vacation skiing at Saddleback with Amy, Brian and Theona. We had fun staying in a hotel with them Friday night and on the slopes Saturday. Sophie and I stayed content in the lodge and playing outside in the snow without skis. Corinne and Ayla continue to amaze us at how well they're doing. They absolutely love skiing and are hoping to go a few more times this year.
Ayla, Sophie and I had a great time at Ava's gymnastics birthday party. They're both looking forward to starting gymnastics in April. They "play" gymnastics in the living room all the time and Ayla almost has her headstand perfected. Sophie is improving her somersault skills. She showed Trevor and I how she does one the other day and Trevor said, "Sophie, that was great!" She replied, "Dad, I didn't even do it, I just fell over. I'll do it again for you the real way!" She's too funny.
Here are just some of the hysterical antics Sophie has said based around her pretending to be pregnant with me:
Mommy, don't lean on my belly. I have a baby in there.
Don't look at me right now I'm breast milking my baby.
Look at how big my belly is getting because there's a baby in it.
Feel my baby. (She pushes it out once your hand is there.) Did you feel that kick?!
She is forever asking me about helping with the baby- feeding, bathing, playing, etc. Her enthusiasm is hysterical and heartwarming. She's so excited to be staying home with me for five months to help.
Corinne started martial arts last week and is loving it! She'll be going twice a week and is looking forward to learning more.
I just picked up a trunk full of Girl Scout cookies so Ayla will be very busy the next week or so delivering them all! Her troop leader told me that Thin Mints outsold Oreo Cookie sales nationwide!!
The girls and I had a blast at my baby shower last weekend at my mom's house. My mom and sister hosted the party and had a book theme instead of giving cards. I loved reading all the heartfelt messages written in them. The handmade outfits and blankets will always be cherished. All of the gifts were overwhelming and definitely made this whole baby thing seem more real!!
Trevor has been busy all day painting the baby's room and putting together all of the furniture. I've started the first of four wash cycles for the cloth diapers. I've written my list of what to put into the hospital bag, but have yet to pack it. It's crazy to think I could have this baby any time. My plan is be pregnant another 4-5 weeks, but we'll see!!!

December/January Update
I'm not sure how this happened, but I just looked at my previous posts and saw that I didn't have an update for December! It seems like so long ago now!!!
It seems silly to recap how our Christmas and month of December were now, but I'll give you the snapshots. We had an absolute blast at Santa's Village with Jason, Karey and Karma Pelletier! Corinne and Ayla both got off the roller coaster and immediately got back in line to go again. Even Sophie liked it! They loved the bumper cars, the decorations and of course playing in the hotel room. We may have to make it a tradition to go every year. I had been before, but not since I was a kid and it was in the summer. It is a magical place in the winter!
We enjoyed a family Christmas party at the Butler's this year. Our yankee swap was entertaining as always and Aunt Karen made sure the girls all got gifts they'd be excited about, even though there may have been some disappointed adults. =)
Ayla had her first Christmas chorus concert and did a great job with all the other third graders singing her heart out! She'll have another one in the spring.
We had a great Christmas at home and enjoyed having family come to us instead of traveling. The girls loved their presents and we reminded them how lucky they are to have so many grandparents who love them! We were able to visit with some family in person, while others we skyped with.
We started the new year with a Benn sibling party. My sister and her fiance were here, so we had a big sleep over at my brother's house in Portland. The kids had a blast and Corinne loved being able to play games and count down with the adults.
Corinne's basketball season just came to an end. It had a different feel to it this year since it was a fifth and sixth grade boy/girl mix. The boys are pretty aggressive, but Corinne did well!
We've been skiing a couple of times this winter and it's great to see Corinne and Ayla becoming so confident. Sophie started this year and likes it, but gets tired quickly. She's just as content to play in the lodge as she is to make the long trek to the ski lift. I skied with her on a harness on our last trip and she did well. I realized that she is really too little to hold herself up, so it's a lot of work on my end. Carrying the babe in my belly and holding her up on the slopes isn't going to work much longer! =)
Corinne had her first band concert and did really well! She had a duet with a friend of hers and they sounded great! She practices on the clarinet without any reminders and is already talking about the next concert.
Ayla continues to enjoy Girl Scouts. She sold 168 boxes of Girl Scout cookies! We went door to door one cold Saturday morning and she did great! Hopefully the weather is warmer when we go back to all those houses to deliver the cookies! They're using the money they earned to go to Boston for a sleep over at the science museum.
I just started a prenatal yoga class and I'm loving it! It's late Sunday afternoon and a great way to end the weekend. It's hard to believe I'm already 8 months pregnant! I'm counting down the days until this baby arrives and I'm able to spend five months with him or her before returning to work! I definitely feel blessed!!
We're looking forward to Grandma Gay's arrival on March 13th! It'll be great to have her help with the girls and the new baby! Trevor is looking forward to spending April vacation with all of us this year and having some time off while Gay is here, too. We have a lot to look forward to in the next couple of months!!!
